Escanaba in da Twilight

Our door in Flint and the cabin door in Tomahawk, WI, are 9 hours and 13 minutes apart (according to Mapquest). We have wanted to drive up there for quite some time, but the trip TO the cabin was just too daunting. We finally decided to go, thinking that we could just suffer it in one day. But last week, we suddenly became too terrified at the prospect of being with Thomas and Frederick in a car for that many hours of driving, plus pit stops for snack, bathroom breaks and buying gas for the car. So we drove 6 hours (and 5 hours was the breaking point) on the first day and decided to stay an night in Escanaba, MI. Escanaba is a cute little town right on Lake Michigan. Its primary appeal is that, unlike almost all the other towns scattered along a Great Lake, it doesn't seem too "touristy" but actually looks like a real town, a bit like Marquette, WI, which is also a very appealing town. After we arrived at the hotel, Thomas and I "rested" in the room and Simon and Frederick headed out and about, to see the town's sights. I have no idea what this is, since I wasn't out with them but Simon liked it. More sights Simon liked: Frederick strolling along a dangerous lake edge. And the same: More: Simon loves this town:
