Easter Miracle!

Well, this Sunday was Easter, and for the first time we didn't make an egg hunt for either boy (sniff!).  But as I was putting the ducks to bed this evening I spotted that Zachary had decided to make up for it:
What makes it truly miraculous is that she hasn't laid an egg in about 2 years!  Her egg-laying ability has Risen Again.

Bon Voyage, Thomas!

Thomas is gearing up for his last trip with the Flint Youth Symphony Orchestra, and this time they are going to France. (More details on exact locations will have to wait until they return.) Before they leave, they had a concert in The Whiting to reveal their latest works, which will be performed with conservatory students there. The first three pieces here are all from Holst's The Planets. Here is Mars, God of War:
Now comes Saturn:
And here is Jupiter:
And now for a few crowd pleasers. Here is a medley from the movie "How to Train Your Dragon:
Here Thomas shows off his rad bongo skillz on Cuban Overture by Gershwin:
And here is most (the video camera--and the back up I brought along) died about half way through) of Star Wars Saga:

Down in the Trumps?

Okay, so the current election cycle in the US is, well, terrifying.  But I want to reassure our non-US reader(s) of one thing: there are plenty of people terrified over here, too.  In fact, if you want some reassurance, read this.  And also, you have to know that Donald Trump is being widely, and savagely mocked.  See for instance this classic from a few weeks ago:

Okay, you say, but John Oliver's English - that doesn't count. Well, but he's on an American channel (HBO) and employs an entirely American staff. But all right, how about the following, from the great Stephen Colbert:

Or how about this, from the also great Samantha Bee (like Colbert AND Oliver, an alumnus of the Daily Show):

Of course, that's also a bit scary, because you see non-Neanderthals who actually seem to think voting for Trump might be a good idea. So cleanse your palette with this call to arms from the slightly smarmy but still effective Seth Meyers:

And all of those four were all from just last night! (As was this, from the current, lesser version of the Daily Show.)  So there's a steady stream of constant mockery. So cheer up, rest-of-the-world. And read this again.

Yet another post about the weather

Well, I am English, so naturally I'm obsessed.  Good contrast yesterday:
Yes, the white stuff is snow, as yet un-melted.  The Bernie flyer was expected to be somewhat poignant (snow vs. "feeling the Bern"), as Hillary was leading him by double-digits in the Michigan primary, held yesterday, but apparently his strong Whiting performance carried him to a historic victory!

What do Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton and Thomas have in common?

Yes, it's the Whiting again:
CNN Democratic Debate happening tonight.  And CNN have also taken over the UM-Flint Rec Center (so no Racquetball since Thursday!)
