Goodbye Grandpa!

A last evening with the whole gang (Jimmy too) watching Monty Python...

Then, today, a walk at Seven Lakes park in blistering heat (triple digits!) (we jumped in the beach lake afterwards)...

Then off went Grandpa to wing his way home. Currently he is probably in the airport at Detroit. Meanwhile, traces remain:

Please save the leftovers for another time - EXCEPT the trunks. They were clearly designed for a smaller man and need to go in the bin. He came home larger!

Grandpa here (the blog has three times refused to take a comment from me, I'm getting REALLY fed up with this technology stuff): whoever feels the impulse to tidy up (can't think who) RESIST THE TEMPTATION to throw away the wood offcuts. if the shelves turn out to be too weak for the weight of all those books (and they're only 7/8 inches thick) the offcuts can be used to prop them up in the middle.

Meanwhile I got to London (staying with Viv) and immediately tried to get in touch as I knew how worried you would be. Viv's wifi refused to take an email, then was eventually persuaded to send one email with no text and a two-word heading. Tried phoning: your phone wouldn't speak to Viv's. Gave up and sent a postcard. You'll probably have to pay for it as I didn't have enough stamps. Serve you right for having such dodgy IT, I say.

Have gained nearly a stone in weight (as you can see from Frederick's obvious failure to get his arm round my waist). It's all those snacks Simon kept bringing me. And also just possibly the ice cream.

Anyway thanks again for the wondrous hospitality, I had a lovely time.

Love
Grandpa

"Our phone wouldn't talk to Viv's"? I think your fingers just got too fat to work the numbers. Jami has already tried to throw the wood away, so it's a good thing you protested - I'm the penny pinching hoarder type, so I'll make sure they're saved. I didn't bring you a STONE'S worth of snacks - I think it was more the Bailey's, Beer and two entire jars of marmalade... Still, we like our visitors to leave fat, tanned and well-read... (Talking of which, are you hooked on Game of Thrones yet?)
