The snow came

Yesterday it was weirdly warm (up in the 50s Fahrenheit) and late in the day it started raining, and then the temperatures steadily dropped, so now we have (heavy, wet) snow on top of slush, all of which will freeze as it gets colder. So all the schools are closed.

We heard and saw this huge branch come down.
